I abide by the ethical code of the American Psychological Association. I would be happy to get you a copy of this if you so wish. Consistent with the APA ethical code, I do not socialize with my clients. I make every effort to protect you and your right to confidentiality. Should we meet in public, I do not initiate contact in an effort to not put you in the awkward position of explaining who I am. However, if you initiate contact, I am happy to respond. We will discuss at our first session other implications of the ethical code, such as clarifying our perspective roles.
I do not work outside of my area of competence. Two main areas that I do not work with are Chemical Dependency (CD) issues and issues related to sexual perpetrators or sexual offenders. If either of these are the primary therapy issues for you, I will help you find a referral to someone who has these areas of expertise.
